Carmelo Anthony signs with Portland Trail Blazers having been out of NBA for a year | Other | Sport

Carmelo Anthony is finally set to return to the NBA after agreeing a deal with the Portland Trail Blazers, according to reports.

Anthony has been out of the league ever since the Houston Rockets traded him back in January.

The 10-time NBA All Star never settled with the Rockets last season, playing just 10 games before Mike D’Antoni dropped him from the squad altogether.

After months of if questions on what Anthony’s future would be, Houston eventually traded him to the Chicago Bulls.

But the Bulls quickly waived Anthony on February 1, leaving him free to talk to any team with speculation rife on who would pick him up.

No team seemed interested in taking the 35-year-old though as he was brushed aside throughout the summer months leading up to the new season.

There were strong rumours the Los Angeles Lakers could be looking at acquiring the 2013 NBA scoring champion.

However, it’s the Portland Trail Blazers who have taken a punt on Anthony, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

It is reported the deal to sign Anthony though is non-guaranteed.
